Trans Mountain pipeline construction ongoing through Langley

Construction of the pipeline from Edmonton to Burnaby is progressing. It runs through North Langley

Trans Mountain expects its pipeline finishing work to be completed by the end of this year, although the company started filling the pipeline a couple of months ago.
Construction is completed with the remaining work being clean up and reclamation. During this final months of work, crews working intermittently to complete right-of-way and access road cleanup, and reseeding, replanting and land reclamation.
The section from Bridal Falls to Langley (232 Street) is approximately 70 km of pipeline that has 84 trenchless crossings, and12 special-project areas requiring modified techniques to accommodate unique land uses or environmental considerations, according to Trans Mountain.
At about 232 Street, the pipeline takes a jog north, no longer paralleling the existing pipeline, and goes through North Langley along about 96th Avenue as it makes its way to the terminal in Burnaby. The 35 km section from Langley to Burnaby includes four trenchless crossings using horizontal drilling. That includes protecting the Hope Redwoods Natural Area.
The Hope family created the natural area to preserve the 175-acre Redwoods Golf Course it owned as a green space, free of development. The nature reserve makes up seven acres of the golf course located between 88 Avenue and 96 Avenues east of 216 Street. The Township purchased Redwoods Golf Course in 2005.
Under the terms of the $6.652 million deal reached in 2005 (the figure includes the purchase price plus annual payments over 20 years), the Township forfeits property taxes for 20 years and Redwoods retains the right to operate the course for the same length of time. The course had to be closed during pipeline construction.
