Taco Smackdown event coming to Abbotsford this summer

Mexican celebration will see wrestling, food truck, vendors and kid's zone at Tradex

The Taco Smackdown event is coming to Abbotsford's Tradex on Aug. 24.

A new festival coming to Abbotsford this summer is promising to celebrate Mexican culture in a variety of unique ways.

The inaugural Taco Smackdown event offers Lucha libre wrestling, food trucks, margarita and tequila bars, a vendor market, live music and DJ's and a kid's zone.

The wrestling portion features some of the stars of Vancouver-based WrestleCore, including Evan Rivers, Sebastian Wolfe, Chakala and Kit Calio. It will be hosted by local wrestling personality Kobra Kai.

Music includes a performance from Mariachi Tabasko, known as Vancouver's premier mariachi band. Food offerings consist of specialty tacos and numerous other taquerias and eateries plus a local artisan market, as well as cocktails. There will also be a bouncy castle and mini-golf.

Admission for the event is $20, with kids 12 and under getting in free of charge. Tickets are available online.
