First responders including multiple fire, ambulance and police were called to the scene of a house fire between 240 and 244 Streets on Fraser Highway in Langley on Saturday morning around 7:30 a.m.

Langley RCMP closed Fraser to traffic in both directions and vehicles were being diverted while fire crews worked.

A Fortis gas truck was called in.

Langley Township Fire Platoon Capt. Doug Simpson said fire crews were alerted to “smoke showing from the attic space roof of the structure.”

“On arrival, we had flames and smoke showing from the back corner,” Simpson told the Langley Advance Times.

”No occupants [were] home at the time. No firefighters [were] hurt,” Simpson said.

It did not appear anyone was home and the cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.

It appeared the house suffered extensive internal damage.

Langley RCMP Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said the structure was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived.

“Fortunately, there were no injuries reported,” Sharoom said. “We continue to work in partnership with the Township of Langley Fire Department to determine the cause of this fire.”

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 and quote file number 2026-7145.
