Canadian speed skating trio wins Olympic gold in women’s team pursuit

The Canadian speed skating team of Ivanie Blondin, Valérie Maltais, and Isabelle Weidemann have captured the country’s third gold medal at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
On Tuesday, the trio won their second straight Olympic crown in the women’s team pursuit event, beating a team from the Netherlands in the final.

The Canadians completed six laps at Milano Speed Skating Stadium in two minutes, 55.81 seconds, .96 seconds ahead of the Netherlands squad. Japan beat the U.S. to capture the bronze medal.
Canada now has 12 medals at the Games, three gold, four silver and five bronze.
