Trio Harmonie will bring musical storytelling to the Langley Community Music School on Sunday, Feb. 22.

Clarinetist Michelle Anderson, cellist Heather Hay, and pianist Rosemary O’Connor will fill the Rose Gellert Hall with a program that celebrates both the heart and dance of music.

For this concert, they have chosen a beautiful selection of music including the romantic sounds of Frühling, the cinematic lyricism of Rota, and the sultry, rhythmic tangos of Piazzolla.

The event begins at 2:30 p.m. with a relaxed conversation between the artists and LCMS’ artistic director Elizabeth Bergmann. It is a great chance to hear the musicians share their personal stories and provide some background on the pieces they will be playing. After the chat, everyone can enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and treats before the performance starts at 3:15 p.m.

Bergmann is looking forward to welcoming this group to the stage. She notes that the trio’s performances always reflect a genuine joy in making music together and with the audience.

Cellist Heather Hay is a former member of the Purcell String Quartet and is currently the assistant principal cellist with the Vancouver Opera Orchestra. She has performed across Europe and North America and is and has been a frequent guest with local ensembles such as Turning Point Ensemble and Vancouver New Music.

Pianist Rosemary O’Connor is a highly regarded performer who regularly collaborates with members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Vancouver Opera. She has appeared at numerous festivals and venues across North America and Europe including Music by the Sea (Victoria), Chintimini Festival (Oregon), and Carnegie Hall.

Clarinetist Michelle Anderson performs with numerous ensembles including the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Turning Point Ensemble, Lionsgate Sinfonia, West Coast Chamber Music and Pacific Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Anderson iis the founder of Clarinet Mentors and teaches clarinet at the University of British Columbia.

The Concerts Café Classico series will continue with Sarah Westwick and Stephen Smith on April 19, and harpist Joy Yeh on May 24. There are also exciting Saturday evening events coming up, including Homecoming: A Special Celebration with Alumni on March 7; and Garlands of Spain with Turning Point Ensemble and Bergmann Piano Duo and Cheng2 Duo with guest clarinetest, James Campbell on May 2.

The Rose Gellert Hall is located at 4899 207 St. To purchase tickets, visit Eventbrite or call the box office at 604-534-2848. For more information, visit LangleyMusic.com.
